Name: COMPLEX GARRUS BIDJAR | RARE Palatial & Over-Sized Mystical & Masterful ART | Deep Indigo, 5 Greens, Sunflower, & more

Size: 10.9 x 17.2

Age: Antique, C. Early 1900's, First decade of the 20th Century (if not older, possibly last quarter of the 19th Century)

Pile: Low with fantastic age-related patina and genuine character-rich wear. Both ends have been restored fully to make this piece "whole". Masterful restoration, see pics.

About: This is a piece, that if you know, you know. Antique Persian Garrus Bidjar / Bijar. You simply will NEVER set your eyes on another Palatial Garrus with lustrious lanolin-dripping wool, the deepest and richest dyes to ever drown hand-spun high-quality wool, and of course the mystical and complexity of one of the most attractive and sought after designs ever woven. Only one village could do this - only some of the most patient, the most whole-hearted, and the most nomadic and resilient weavers could pull off such brilliance; the weavers of the mountainous Northwest region of the greatest rug weaving country in the world. To me, looking into the hypnotic piece takes me into my time trekking through the Amazon Jungle. Machete in hand, millions of colors in sight, thousands of noises around, and the constant perspective that we are mere blades of grass inside this jungle we call life. This piece reminds me that we are nothing, while simultaneously reminding me that we are all miracles. To lock eyes with the colors inside each flower, each petal, each root, and vine - you are slowly being lured into a world beyond the one that you know - it nearly activates the subconscious more than the conscious - and then you snap out of the trans... whoa. This piece is a nomadic masterpiece, and one that has been traditionally known to only grace the floors, be admired by the eyes and take part of the lives of old money - real wealth. From the walnut floors of East Coast Oil Tycoons to the marble Palaces to Saudi royalty, and every important aristocrat or Million and Billionaires floors in between. Fine art sometimes carries the baggage of pretentious, and often because the owners of very rare and fine art can have characteristics of what we have traditionally associated with "wealth"; greed, selfishness, ruthlessness, and so on - BUT, this is a new world and I don't want this piece to belong to an oil tycoon, Rockerfeller-esk type of person - I want someone that truly and deeply loves art for art, not to impress their neighbor with the piece that is unattainable. This piece could fetch $75K-$200K easily in a NY showroom or rug gallery in Paris. However, I'm offering it for a fraction of that price because I would rather have my rugs out there living and breathing in the world with lovers of this art, not solely those that use art and objects as a measurement of their significance or place in the world. I hope my message resonates a bit with you, because if you are reading this and indeed the buyer of this piece, please tell me you see in it what I do and more - it would be an honor for you to own it.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
