INFRA - Public Sculptures

INFRA is a pack of life-sized wolves rendered as thermal portraits. Infrared or thermal imagery visualizes the electromagnetic impulses created by energy. Heat is a by-product of an organism’ biological functions, therefore an infrared image provides insight into an organism’ vitality. The wolves are represented as pure energy, which metaphorically draws on the perception of non-human animals as more attuned with their instincts. INFRA aimed to disconnect the abstraction of nature and reveal the connection of energy that we all share. Initially commissioned for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche in Toronto in 2011, INFRA went on tour with several exhibitions across Canada before lost in a fire in 2018.
