This is the largest mural in the city of Philadelphia. It was a collaborative effort with photographer JJ Tiziou, whose images of dancers make up the design. It’s 85,000 square feet and stretches for a half mile across six of the parking garage structures at the Philadelphia International Airport. Over the year-long project there were close to 2,000 volunteer painters who lent a hand in completing the painting at a number of community painting workshops. Over a dozen city agencies contributed to the funding of the
project.

I paint murals because I'm addicted to the process. From working with community members to putting the last bit of sealer on it. I love every bit of it.

After college I moved to Pittsburgh. It was obvious to me at 22 years old that I was going to become a famous painter in no time. After three months, I was flipping through the ‘help wanted’ ads as I sat at my third shift job as a gas station attendant… sorry, ‘petroleum distribution engineer’…. and I saw an ad for the ‘Sprout Fund Organization’ and their upcoming mural season. That was what set off a now 15-year obsession as a mural painter.
Six months later I packed up my things and moved to Philadelphia to attend the MFA program at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and to annoy the people at Mural Arts Philadelphia into giving me a project. Fast forward 14 years and I’ve created over 50 murals throughout the city of Philadelphia and have managed to annoy my colleagues slightly less. This count includes ‘How Philly Moves’ at the Philadelphia International Airport, and ‘Our City, Our Team’ on Darien Street across from Lincoln Financial Field. These are the two largest mural projects in the city.
