Hold the Rope
40" x 40" x 1.5"
Acrylic palette knife painting on canvas
This painting brought back a distant memory from long ago, and I feel I have to explain the title.
When I was growing up in NJ, we used to spend our days at the beach. You may not know that New Jersey has a huge coastline of beautiful beaches. Anyway, back then, in the 1950's, my dad would drive us to Long Branch. The surf was very rough and I remember hanging on to a rope to keep from being swept away by the undertow. My mom would yell out in Portuguese, "segure corda", which translated means "hold the rope". Well, many times the waves would wash over me, and I still remember the sting of salt water in my nose and eyes.
It's funny how abstract paintings can sometimes bring back memories from so long ago.
This original, semi-abstract impressionistic acrylic palette knife painting is stretched on a 1.5" deep gallery wrap canvas. Only the finest professional quality acrylic paints were used in the creation of this artwork. The sides of the painting are painted black, making framing unnecessary. It is signed on the side, dated and signed on the back. The painting is wired and ready to hang as soon as it arrives. Finished with a clear, protective acrylic varnish for easy care.
