Pairing the rustic qualities of reclaimed wood with modern and contemporary design.

Christopher Original is the work of artist and craftsman Chris Jones. Chris was born in Oregon in 1978, residing in southern Oregon for most of his youth. As a young man, he possessed an affinity for art, fabrication and science. He eventually went on to earn a science degree from the University of Oregon. Deciding to follow his heart rather then his education, Chris moved to San Diego, CA in 2002. There he worked for an interior design firm for several years quietly learning and expanding his natural love of art and design. In 2008 he created Christopher Original and eventually moved back to Oregon. He now lives in Portland, OR with his family and continues his work.

Chris's early work focused on construction and fabrication for interior design colleagues. His high attention to detail and quality craftsmanship helped him excel in building clean lined furniture and other custom work. In between minimalist furniture projects, he discovered reclaimed wood and all it has to offer. For the next several years he focused on designing and building furniture using reclaimed wood as a dominant material. Recently he's shifted to using reclaimed wood as more of an accent and combining it with natural forms and modern design to create unique paintings and furniture with a rustic urban flare. With everything coming full circle, he's incorporating his second loves of geology and geometry into his current art and designs.
