An exciting chemistry happens when a product is designed, made and packaged in one place.
Our story began when I got bit hard by the woodworking bug in 2014. At the time, I was going through a professional transition and was starting the process of selling my first company. I had never formally designed or built anything but I was a lifelong student of design; from architecture to fine arts.
My ability to express myself creatively - a necessity for me - was fading and it was time to shake things up. I attended a local college to learn woodworking at night and after learning the fundamentals, I made the decision that the focus of my next business would be furniture. This was not a popular decision. It probably still isn't - I mean very few would advise anyone to manufacture furniture in North America.
But swimming downstream was never my thing and so I opened a shop and just started making things. Nine years later, I am proud to say that we still make everything in our Toronto woodshop with the help of some local metal fabricators.
KROFT is not driven by profit. We are a value centric furniture brand that invests most of our energy on design, fabrication and execution. I started this company with the hope that I could connect with people around the world through our work. It is still the greatest reward to this day.
