The sides of "Gulfbound" are painted white so that you have a fresh edge when hanging it "as is" on your wall...or it can be framed.
You can see in the painting the three rivers which together make up the headwaters to this longest river in the continental U.S., crossing seven states. I didn't originally plan to make it look so forceful, but as I painted I felt the enormity of this "Mighty Missouri" which passes through our Kansas City hometown. There is such strength to giant waters such as these.
