I was approached by Cameron Gardens, Brown & Carroll & Martin Brudnizki the lead garden landscapers, specialist joiners and interior designers who all played a key role in the incredible design and renovations of Annabel's.
The original Baroque style painting created by Pietro da Cortana in 1655, was used as the inspiration. I adapted the colour palette so that the clouds had a more heavenly and spiritual feel with the warmth of the gold and copper, leading the child towards the light. Once I had approval on the final design it was the most exciting part of any project - cutting, shaping and laying the first of many pieces of glass.
Created the mosaic using the finest Murano, Bisazza and Orsoni glass from Italy. This detailed image of the child up close reveals the smooth flowing lines of the fabric, every crease considered and cut with precision. Using Byzantine methods I worked mainly with quarters, though with some pieces being so tiny I often use my smallest sculpting tools and finest tweezers to place them. To give you an idea of the scale the majority of the squares you can see are only ten millimetre squares, the smallest pieces being only a millimetre or two in size.

As with all our works prices are dependant on several factors, the material choice, complexity of design, location and scale.
