100% biodegradable Mycelium-based furniture and lighting, developed in the Mycelium Studios’ Bio-Laboratory.
Godlight: A collaboration with Philippa Abbott; one of the ongoing experimental outcomes of the Mycelium Studios Bio-Lab. Originally this piece was exhibited alive in growing and breathing Mycelium - as part of NGV’s Melbourne Design Week 2020 exhibition ‘Life and Death’, by Friends and Associates. Its purpose was to grow or die through the ten-day exhibition as it responded to the environmental conditions of the exhibition space. The audience was given a choice; to water the pieces and keep them alive, or let them dry out and die. An exploration of behavioural products, organic forms, sensory immediacy, and the relationship between consumerism and ecological death.
Ironically the exhibition was shut down after opening night due to Coronavirus lockdown, with Godlight dying in isolation.
ToadStool: A collaboration with Killing Matt Woods. The project takes the form of a classic stool however the traditional means of production have been replaced with that of a living & growing organism; Mycelium. We believe this is the first-panel construction Mycelium stool that supports the weight of a human.
