The “frailejon” is a subshrub from high altitude that mainly grows in the páramo ecosystems. It has long hairy-like leaves, very thick trunks and they can grow up to 7 meters / 23 ft high. It is known for its capacity to absorb water from air´s moisture through its leaves and storing it in it’s trunk.
