Contemporary Abstract Painter

Rebekah Andrade is a contemporary abstract artist working and living in Nevada. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a Graphic Design Certificate from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Currently, she teaches drawing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Rebekah's work explores the language of painting by way of expressionism, geometric abstraction, hard-edge painting, and pattern. Her process draws from past work, personal references, familiar forms, objects, textures, and symbols. This structured methodology is transmitted through selected colors of layered paint, collage, and mixed media techniques, always leaving traces of the process visible. Her intention with the work is to investigate and work through questions surrounding the history of representation, limits of perception, aesthetics, status, and reproduction of images, thus providing her insight and clarity into our contemporary visual culture and communicational trends.
