"Evanston Odyssey," is a three piece commissioned, permanent installation created for a narrow stairwell in the Lorraine Morton Civic Center, Evanston, IL. My vision for this installation was to create an exciting journey as each viewer walks up the stairwell. As an Evanston resident for 18 years, I chose to express the energy and Odyssey I have experienced as a local artist. Created out of thin, welded steel rods and steel sheets formed/melted onto the structure, chunks of glass , connected with thin soldered and wrapped steel, durable acrylic coated fabric sewn onto structure with heavy duty beading thread, colored with fabric pigments and coated with Acrylic Matte Gel. All three pieces incorporated a color changing light feature. Sizes: 1. Smallest sphere- Closest to the ceiling: 2’6”Diameter, 2. Largest Center piece- 3’6”W x 3’D x 9’H, 3. Piece closest to the ground- 2’6”W x 2’3”D x 4’6”H.

I create my sculptures by drawing gesturally with wire or steel rods- twisting, melting and manipulating, until the armature speaks to me. These three dimensional artworks are formed by stretching a strudy, opaque material over a linear steel construction. My airy artworks look like floating, celestial cloud formations that have come to life in three dimensions.
