One way I think about my art practice is as “reading the city”, seeing and sharing moments of line and light that make a city vibrant and fascinating. Thinking of language as a generative force, ENCODE uses both form and content to create abstract compositions of inspiring ideas. Hand-cut glass and concrete echo urban textures, beauty and energy. Dimensional art with glass+paint+concrete.

Exploring line + light

The most compelling aspect of working with glass is how much it loves light, sparkling and shimmering, shifting and changing. I think a lot about what draws our attention—especially now with so many things competing for our attention. Alongside the hard lines and repetitive forms of our cityscape, I notice the fluidity and constant transformations in our natural world. It is in the contrasts that I find inspiration: nature and city, information and chaos, vibrancy and restraint, fragility and permanence.
