Emma Hayes created two bespoke wallpapers for the interior of this award-winning Auckland restaurant.

Created from layers of hand-painted watercolors; herbs, edible flowers and beneficial plants 'dance' and float across the restaurant walls, suggesting movement from outside to in, from a garden to the plate, reflecting the new addition of a kitchen garden.

The wallpaper designs were also used across the slipcase and cover of Saison, the second cookbook from The French Cafe.

Finalist, New Zealand Best Design Awards 2015.

Emma Hayes Textiles is a New Zealand based design company with a vision to create beautiful textiles for beautiful spaces. Represented by showrooms in NZ, Australia, Canada, Asia, Europe and the USA, the brand works with residential and commercial interior designers and specifiers around the world. Recent key interior projects include Louis Vuitton retail interiors in Auckland & Melbourne, Nobu Hotel Miami and WME/IMG Offices in New York City.

Designs are an amalgamation of artistic techniques – hand made marks, drawings, paintings or experiments – and digital processes.

Founder and Creative Director Emma Hayes lives and works in New Zealand, a place from where she draws much of her inspiration. All of her designs start by hand – from paintings, drawings and mark-marking generated in response to the patterns and textures of the surrounding landscape.

The brand works with heritage manufacturers to create its non-woven paper wallcoverings. It treats its environmental responsibility seriously with papers sourced from FSC® or PEFC™ certified forests and inks made from organic pigments that are free from heavy metals.
