This handmade ceramic artwork is made up of over 200 oak leaf wall art sculptures made of porcelain clay in my studio. Titled "Floating on a breeze," it is inspired by oak leaves being gently blown on a breeze by mother nature.
This particular wall sculpture was installed in a commercial space in London, but we can supply it to you wherever you are located, worldwide.
Oak trees symbolise wisdom, strength and good fortune. Much of my work is inspired by nature, to bring an element of the outdoors inside our everyday spaces and help us to feel connected to that in the small moments of our lives.
The leaves are finished in plain white, matte porcelain, some with a tactile clear glossy glaze and for your made to order wall artwork, you can add some in a rich metallic gold, or contact me to discuss bespoke finishes to suit your decor. All the pieces were formed from beautiful high-fired ceramic, so they're great art for commercial spaces, kitchens and bathrooms as well as living spaces and bedroom art.
I wanted the leaves to have an organic feel to them, so I studied some oak leaves and emulated their natural shape, whilst ensuring they had a pared back, contemporary feel. Some of the porcelain pieces were sculpted to be curved, and some edges of the leaves were turned up right whilst some were bent down to help create that sense of natural movement.
In this set, the leaves vary in size and are available in approximately:
Small 9.5cm
Medium 11.5cm
Large 14cm
The sculptures can be arranged in a number of ways but if you would like help with creating a composition, get in touch to discuss your ideas. I'd be happy to take a look at your space and make a recommendation. The cost illustration for the group pictured included our design and template service, as well as the handmade ceramic pieces.
Arranged as pictured in the first image, this set took up a space approximately 700cm x 285cm (around 23 feet wide x 9.5 feet high). Each piece has 2 keyhole style fittings or similar, making them easy to hang on flat headed nails or screws in your wall.
If you would like your set to be larger, smaller or a different number, please get in touch to discuss a special commission!
All sizes are approximate. Please note, every leaf is unique and so yours might vary very slightly from those pictured, but they will be very similar and equally pretty - I promise! Fitting is not included in the above costs - contact us to discuss a quote if that's something you'd like.
