In addition to utilizing the design concept of the safe deposit boxes in banks, this Chow Tai Fook branch in Xi'an has also added a strong local cultural element. The most famous attraction in Xi'an must be the buried Terracotta Army - they were covered with bronze armor - this is closely related to the metal, but the designers do not want to create a cold metallic tone, so the elements are expressed in other different forms.
The most eye-catching focus in the store is bound to be the ‘conveyor belt’ that runs back and forth. It is definitely a brand-new way of selling jewelry. The ‘moving jewelry’ installation is an interesting and exciting concept for the guests, bringing them an unprecedented shopping experience.
The shop resembles safety vaults in banks, the walls are dissected into numerous rectangular shapes to represent safe deposit boxes. Jewelry carries a hidden meaning of ‘heritage’. It is a treasure that’s been passed on from generation to generation. In order to bring out this subtle message, the designers place the ‘conveyor belt’ in the middle of the shop, which has become the significant highlight of the space. Guests could admire the beauty of the jewelry through the display jar that are running endlessly on the belt.
In order to echo the theme of the Terracotta Warriors, the designers have embellished with studs on the metal plates on both sides of the conveyor belt, reminiscent of the embellishments on the terracotta armor.
