The CORE TABLE. This mirror topped concrete coffee table references the core drill patterns of the blasted stone. When stone formations are dynamited to build roadways, these patterns are left as permanent scars on the landscape. Reinterpreted here as a textural element on an outdoor piece, the pattern also recalls the crude formwork of brutalist architecture. Concrete between the cylinders in the formwork is broken away mechanically at random. Presently shown at Inside/Out at The William Vale, curated and produced by Asa Pingree and Kin and Company for New York Design Week. Co-sponsors by Sight Unseen and Wescover.
