Central Park Cityscape, wood wall art
Dimensions: 56” long x 29” high x 4” deep
This is the exact art piece that is available to ship out right away.
I was inspired by Central Park because of its location in the most densely populated area in the US. With all of the skyscrapers and buildings surrounding the park, I just had to build a detailed cityscape of Central Park in Manhattan. I first started with the park in the center of the piece where I used a large piece of wood that has been aging outside for a very long time. If you look closely, you will see how moss and lichen grew on this piece of wood which mimics the trees and green space of Central Park. I then cut out all of the bodies of water for which I used a naturally weathered blue-grey hardwood to look like water. Next, I carved out all of the baseball diamonds throughout the park and finally, I built a couple of key things that were noticeable from satellite images like the Central Park ice rink/swimming pool. Most things are covered by the lush canopy of Central Park and I just wanted to reveal what you can see from above. Keep in mind that this art piece is meant to be more of an abstract art piece than a detailed replica of the area. Lastly, I built all the streets around the entire piece and then installed the tallest skyscrapers in Lower Manhattan and worked up to the opposite end where the buildings became smaller.
A lot of planning and work went into building this piece. There are no words to describe how interesting it looks in person. As the light in the house changes so does the art piece, it is an art piece that you will not be able to take your eyes off of; you will never get bored of it. I am sure that this art piece will be the biggest point of conversation in your home.
This artwork is made of old reclaimed Barn wood which consists of these species of hardwoods: Black Walnut, Sassafras, White Oak, Red Oak, Elm, Hickory, Sycamore, White Ash, and Maple, and includes some Pine.
This artwork has a completely natural patina, which means that it has not been painted or stained. What you see is the natural color of the wood that has been aged for over 80 to 120 years.
The entire piece has been sealed with a low-VOC water-based sealer to preserve and protect it.
If you would like to see more angles of this piece, please send me a message and I will get you some more photos.
I also include the mounting kit for secure wall hanging.
art piece will be shipped in a wood crate to protect it and it will also be fully insured from damage.
