A 27 ft long cascade made from 85K post-consumer can-tabs, safety pins and key rings in this image is suspended from a ceiling beam. Cascade can be installed by other means than shown here and can be adjusted in length to accommodate a given space at the artists discretion.
Cascade: collective thirst is a 27 ft long suspended sculpture made form 85K post-consumer aluminum tabs, safety pins and key rings. Aluminum can-tabs chained together with safety pins are layered and massed to create a dense sparkling texture. The long chains of can-tabs, reflective, glinting in the light, awaken a sense of wonder in those who pass by. When a viewer draws near, closer inspection reveals that the waterfall is made from tens of thousands of aluminum can-tabs, one of many common disposable items that continuously pass through our hands.
