Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint, Paint, Gesso, Ink on Canvas.

This is new series that I have been wanting to do with just Black and White. Two powerful strong yet subtle colors that have so much balance like Yin and Yang. There is something very calming about this piece that has a zen quality that resonates in any space. Since I produce work in so much color, it has been refreshing to start this new body of work.

Multidisciplinary Contemporary artist

Sona Mirzaei is a multi-disciplinary artist from Los Angeles, CA whose body of work include paintings, collage, public art, sculptures, street murals, and performance art. She has been featured in the Huffington Post recently and a celebrated artist. Also, Internationally awarded Artist of the Year by the London International Creative Competition in 2014, and by Art for Progress in New York City, and as an LA winner for Scope Art Basel Bombay Gin with Rush Philanthropic.

Her work has been widely exhibited in multiple galleries in all throughout California, New York City, Art Basel in Miami, Saatchi Gallery in London, Dubai, Europe, and the Asian Civilization Museum of Art in Singapore. Her large-scale abstract works are featured on TV shows, and the contemporary pop Superhero series was recently selected by a leading interior designer to stage a multi-million-dollar homes throughout California and collected by high-profile patrons, executives and celebrities.
Sona's approach to art is culturally rich, bold, daring, while evoking a gentleness. She achieves great depth and contrast with use of aggressive motion in her brush work, creating paintings with dynamic layers and texture, manifesting dimensions, liveliness and joy. She is currently working in abstract expressionism, pop art, graffiti, sculpture, street art, mixed media on all mediums, conceptual, 3dimensional, and public art. Having a genuine artistic goal of continuing to evolve and create magic thorough the lens of the visual medium which she believes has the power to transform and transcend virtually any space.
The entire canvas of art including classical forms, music, performance art, public art, design, civil engineering, abstract, architecture, impressionist to street art all of which serve to be an inspiration in Sona’s practice. She thrives on challenges and responsibilities that broadens her practice every day. Diversity and culture define her work and bridges her outlook on life with the creative expression of many interests that serves to be a motivation and force in her life and career.

Sona is certainly an artist of our times. As stated by Los Angeles based art critic, Peter Frank, “Sona paints like a cross between a house on fire and a bat out of hell. She seems almost literally to whip her abstract paintings into shape. The results of her furious brush-wielding are roiled surfaces and foreign materials brought to a sudden, almost revelatory visual coherency, exciting to witness.”
