The Aviateur side table; simple, direct, more than meets the eye. It’s all in the details. Proportionally solid, poised to take flight. Made from solid hardwoods.
The top is always hand selected hardwoods. The carved legs give a sense of movement and a changing perspective as you walk around the table. This wonderful eye catching detail and taper in the legs gives a delicacy to the form and a high level of interest. The end grain is exposed in the tops of the legs and is contrasted with the smooth grain of the top. The cove is finished with green leather.
This table is normally finished off with a black milk paint in the cove. A friend offered us a small section of green leather from a french tannery. As soon as we saw it we knew we had to pair the deep green color with the rich brown of walnut. The leather is from an old stock and we don't have the material to make another so this is the only one of it's kind.
This table comes out of our custom work. The original was a bit narrower and in white oak. When we fall in love with a design it makes it into our collection of pieces we reproduce. Aviateur is a French word meaning pilot or flier.
Finished with a hand applied wiping varnish.
