Electrifying without the sting! A lamp named after the venomous woolly bear caterpillar/moth but inspired by 70s fashion and colors. After I introduced the Penny Lamp a few people inquired about shaded lamps. I hate lampshades, but I liked the challenge of making a new or different lampshade. Something different but still functional, and then the Asp lamp was born! A solid wood lamp painted in earthy and warm tones it features a locally produced and processed wool curtain/shade hung from a copper cantilever spiral arm. Can be converted to a sconce!

sustainable contemporary furniture

studio apotroes is an experiment and exploration into what it means to be a furniture company dedicated to sustainability in the 21st century. We marry different design and production methods to craft heirloom quality furniture for customers. All pieces are made using biodegradable or recyclable materials like locally harvested wood, glass, metal, and natural fibers. We work with local producers to source materials for studio apotroes objects. You will never see plastics at studio apotroes, but you may see experimental materials using unconventional raw or recycled materials (think invasive or fallen wood, recycled glass, banana fabrics, or oyster concrete). We are a small design studio that wants customers to love and cherish each piece they bring into their home so production times are longer than convention.
