About: One-of-One Antique Village piece woven with the heart of an artist through masterful fingers. This design combines the fullness of a classical antique rug, with the soul of a tribal village rug. Sensational color palette with every single color you could possibly imagine. It would take an eternity to list them, so we've tried to capture some close-ups to see them - so many variations in nearly every pedal because this rug was dyed with small batches as they worked their way to finish the piece one small knot at a time. One small flower is the epicenter of the rug, as the rest of the wild "Anastatia"-like fairy tale unfolds before your eyes throughout the entirety of the rug. Lovely patina throughout speaking to it's age, some age-related wear around some of the perimeter. The border is so open with a vine chain-like design flowing through to frame this sprawling botanical garden or jungle inside. So many artistic viney lines connecting one flower to another in this dance for the eyes! Rose, watermelon, blush, and salmon make a huge appearance, as a perfect complement to the deep indigo and navy combo; and of course the greens, apricots, mocha, chocolates, golden honey tones, and so many others. This piece is a vivid example of nomadic weaving with dedicated and very skilled weavers that without question exemplify what it means to be an artist - from the dyers to the weavers and everyone else that was involved in sheering and spinning the wool to building the loom - it's ALL here. If you want the fringe secured, that's not problem at all - it will be about $200 extra and I will have my grandfather secure it all by hand to keep that ancient look yet prevent from unraveling. Just let us know!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
