My drawings and paintings develop organically over time, often emanating from experience within a particular place. Various bodies of work connect and reference other periods of within my work, via expression, color and tactility. My process is a search to find alchemy in the mix between elemental marks: A paint stroke, gesture, pour or splash and how these layer and transition to the pictorial — yet remain painted moments. As I work, I hope to discover something that leaps beyond my opening questions, something that I recognize and that resonates, while leaving room to wonder.
