Just delivered and installed this abstract work for a collector that I completed in 2017. This 6ft canvas is layered with a collage of dictionary pages and newsprint from an early 1900s California newspaper that peek through the dripped and crackled white paint on top of it. The black line is a mix of acrylic paint and India ink drawn in a single unplanned swoop. I enjoy laying papers and paint, freely adding or peeling away parts until a piece feels balanced / complete. It’s pleasure when other people find the finished abstractions appealing enough to incorporate into their daily life.
