A resident of San Clemente, California, Cari Guerin is a painter, printmaker and photographer whose work has been acquired or commissioned by collectors around the world. Cari's training is rooted in classical drawing and painting, and her command of these traditional aesthetics infuses her abstract compositions with an elegant balance and sensitivity.
Cari Guerin’s recent works are large abstract watercolors that are spontaneous yet peaceful images that bring to mind the passage of time as seen through nature. The transparent, amorphous shapes layer over each other and create patterns and textures, some of which are reminiscent of the life rings of a tree trunk or the sedimentary layers left behind from the water long ago evaporated river. In fact water is the key tool used in these pieces, as each layered puddle slowly leaves behind its impression of the time passed as it evaporates.
