This Vintage Star Map print is remastered from a very rare antique British Constellation Map from 1849 but still feels timeless. Hand-drawn stars and typography, stippled celestial forms, and slightly distressed antiquing make add to the vintage charm.

These maps were originally designed as 19th Century nautical tools by seamen on their journeys. The description that accompanied this map is as follows:

“The months marked at the foot of the map are to show the aspect of the Equatorial Heavens about midnight. By noting the stars on the map immediately over the name of the month, and then looking at the sky in the opposite direction to the elevated pole, the different constellations will readily be recognized. In Southern latitudes, reverse the star map.”
