A series inspired by the textures in nature. Melissa transposed this texture into abstract works of art using modelling paste and natural inks. Melissa hand crafted walnut hulls into ink and then mindfully mixed the ink into modeling paste. She used a palette knife to apply the modelling paste and then added handwoven artisanal textile remnants, papyrus paper, hand made paper from Tiebet and vegan suede. These leftover textile pieces are given to Melissa by a local shop called Rug & Weave. Melissa then repurposes the textiles into truly unique pieces of art.

*The floater frame is made locally from unfinished Canadian Ash Hard Wood (2”deep).
*Hanging hardware included and installed
Natural inks and dyes are “living works of art” and can be subject to slight transformations in colour over time. Thus, it is highly suggested that you do not hang the painting in direct sunlight.
Please note that the colors may vary slightly in person.
