My artwork has become a visual abstract diary, capturing the spirit of many summer moments at Lake Michigan and vacations abroad. Emphasis is placed on my subjective interpretation and emotional expression by using loose brush strokes, drips, adding texture with palette knives, all the while using lots of calming colors. One exception to my usual calming color palette, is my Color and Element Series which explore the vibrant colors of red, green, yellow, pink and orange.
Painting art became a hobby for me when my children got older and started needing me less. This new found freedom enabled me to take a couple of local art classes and from there my love of painting began. My first ever commission was a pet portrait for a friend who took a chance on me which, in turn, grew by word of mouth. Along the way, experimenting with abstract art became my primary focus and I have been growing my business ever since.
My work includes contemporary abstract oil painting, pet portraits and most recently prints of my originals. Inspiration stems from summers spent in Saugatuck, Michigan on the lake and beach vacations abroad with family.
Over the last several years I have had a dozen paintings on exhibit at the Main Street Promenade building and this last spring at North Central College, both located downtown Naperville, Illinois. This past year, I participated in Glen Ellyn's juried Festival of the Arts event in Illinois, and honored to also have one of my pieces chosen for DIFFA Chicago’s Art For Life juried live auction event downtown Chicago which benefits those living with and/or affected by HIV/AIDS. In December 2023, I was an Emerging Artist in Chicago’s OOAK art show at the Mart in downtown Chicago.
Currently, I am a member of Arts Dupage, Dupage Art League and Naperville Art League.
