"My Love For The Water Is Expressed In My Ocean Inspired Paintings"
International contemporary artist... As seen in luxe Interiors & Design Southern California Edition. Growing up between two worlds, she was shaped by country living in the South, and sunny days spent at the beach in Southern California. The ocean captivated her heart, inspiring the name 'fiery for deep blue.' Her love of the water is expressed in her ocean-inspired resin paintings on wood panels. It is the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air” that influences Melissa’s artistic expression. Although resin seascapes make up a large portion of the work she does, she also loves to work with other mediums such as watercolor, oil, and acrylic. Creating contemporary pieces with the addition of glitter, metallic, and a bold color palette provides a nice contrast to her serene pieces. Although innately artistic, Melissa received formal training at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. Her work was featured in VoyageLA October 2022, VoyagePhoenix December 2021, SHOUTOUT LA September 2020, VoyageLA July 2019, Arkansas Life Magazine 2016: Artist Spotlight, and was featured in the Special 48th Anniversary edition of Southwest Art Magazine in May 2019. Melissa is a current member of the Orange County Fine Arts Association, Dana Point Fine Art Association, and Laguna Craft Guild.
