More About This Creator

Q&A

How do your pieces come to life? Tell us one interesting thing about your creative process?

"I have had well over a decade of experience with painting and I prepare for my jobs well, always having at least one developed sketch to work from, as well as many reference photographs. This allows me to essentially enter a meditative state as I work on a piece of art. I have often found myself stepping back and realising that my subconscious has added an interesting twist to my painting without me fully realising what has happened!"

Q&A

What do you want people to do or feel when they encounter your creations?

"I like to have a protagonist in mind and develop the artwork around the subject. Showcasing a theme or story around the main character, I hope that people use these elements in the artwork to develop their version of who the subject is, using their own set of experiences in life. It’s a visual way to listen to someone. A skill so important to have in this digital age, to be able to speak to someone and learn about their life. It can be very humbling and educational for self development."

Q&A

What funny moments, unexpected surprises, or obstacles have you encountered?

"During my second work trip to China, one of my commissions was to spray paint a car. Because of health and safety reasons, my manager requested that this job be carried out in an abandoned parking lot. As the day went on, I have noticed a few buses enter this parking lot. I paid no attention, until what seemed like hundreds of people piled out of the bus and started taking photographs of the car! Later I found out that my previous job on that trip in an early child education centre has made the local news, and now I was an attraction on one of the tourist bus tours in the area!"
