Marilyn Bean (b. 1989) is an emerging contemporary abstract painter. She primarily works with acrylics on canvas.
Marilyn’s process consists of many layers of paint; creating and then abandoning multiple versions of each painting. These layers create organic texture and uninhibited marks throughout the surface.
Trained as a sociologist, Marilyn’s work explores the self. She's interested in performance, tension, fragmentation, and the relationship between fluidity and containment.
