I have always had a love for art throughout my life. In high school, I studied many components of studio and fine art, including photography, figure drawing, and acrylic painting - I even won the Board of Education Purchase Award my senior year for a large pastel portrait I completed of my brother. While I studied art in college, I didn't choose art as a focus for my early adult life. I had spent some time traveling and working in orphanages in Jamaica, Thailand, and Peru then pursued a career in Education. I received a Masters Degree, got married, and started a family. My reintroduction to art came in the form of an oil painting class my husband gifted me at our local art center. The minute I touched my brush to canvas, it all came rushing back. After all that time away from the easel, it's like I had never left! I am captivated by the sky and I’m always trying to portray its grander and beauty in most of my works. Every time I step outside and look up, I'm reminded that this world is so much bigger than me, and there is so much beauty to be found.
The more I am at the easel, the more I see all the beauty of this life in the world around us. Time at my easel has taught me to slow down and take it all in. Along with my journey as a fine artist, I am a wife, mother to three kids, and two golden retrievers. I love being active, especially outside. I garden, hike, and just finished coaching my daughter's basketball team. In short, I'm an avid coffee drinker who loves a good adventure. Some people find it crazy that I have the time to paint - I suspect it's what keeps my sanity.
