Q&A
How do your pieces come to life? Tell us one interesting thing about your creative process?
"Art is born in attention to details, appearing to involve broad strokes, grand schemes, and great planes. But it is the details that stay with us; the collective image that haunts us and becomes art. I begin a painting with an idea, an image or concept, starting with the details and then sit back as the painting comes to life. I’ll start a painting and take it as far as it wants to go. Stopping often and processing the canvas, for hours or days, visualizing all the possibilities. All the different directions or stories it wants to tell. Sometimes it flows naturally, other times I rework the piece till I make that connection."
