Inspired by the unique patterns found within modern architecture, Derbyshire based Textile Artist Anita Meades creates striking woven art using traditional weaving techniques.
Carefully curated fibre selections explore the juxtaposition between texture & pattern, embracing the natural beauty of which each possess, bringing a sense of warmth and comfort to formal lines and orderly design.
Anitas's work is a contemporary presentation of an ancient craft, where horizontal and vertical lines are meticulously placed to challenge the traditional flat surface of a woven canvas and instead create an ebb and flow that plays with light and shadow. Her complexed geometric designs invite the viewer to find new compositions at different viewpoints throughout the day, when the surface subtly changes depending on the direction of natural light. "for me as an artist the journey of creating each piece is as important as the final product itself. Surrendering to the art form and allowing a design to evolve through every chosen technique, fibre and line placement is truly captivating." - Anita Meades
