Making art is a spiritual practice for me. It’s meditative and intuitive. I work in mixed media and address universal spiritual themes through a language of images, color, balance and texture. I journal daily about the complexity of being a spiritual being in physical form and use my ripped up journals in most of my work. The journals serve as a visually rhythmic throughline, a symbol of releasing the past, and when legible, they add an additional layer of meaning to the composition. I aim to create a higher vibrational, visceral experience through my work. I believe my job as an artist is to stay tuned to the collective soul, synthesize my findings and share the Great Mystery expressing itself through me.
I'm a life-long artist, trained formally in makeup artistry for all media at Makeup First Chicago which informs my approach to balance, color and texture. I've also studied Figure Drawing at Palette and Chisel in Chicago. I've exhibited in Chicago, and my art is held in private collections across the US.
