Vintage-Inspired Monochromatic Walnut Ink Landscape Painting of Trees in A Vintage Frame
Artist Melissa Mary Jenkins' landscape and still life paintings reflect the natural world surrounding her in-home studio and her love of all things vintage and antique.
"Symbiosis" in The Pastoral Series is an original painting that explores the relationship of the trees and the pond outside Melissa's studio window. This series is inspired by 18th century ornamental toile fabric highlighting pastoral scenes where the lines of both cloth and art are blurred. Melissa painted this monochromatic artwork with walnut ink that she handcrafted from walnut shells she foraged for in the forest behind her home. She painted the landscape on cotton open weave fabric from a local textile shop. The cotton has frayed edges and is professionally framed with a linen mat. The vintage wooden frame evokes an English cottage aesthetic.
